United Parcel Service (UPS) Drivers' Strike

This Teamsters UPS drivers' strike essentially shut down Teen-Beat's wholesale operations for two weeks in August, 1997. At the time, Teen-Beat had regular U.P.S. service; the driver would stop by the Teen-Beat office daily from Monday through Friday.

"With the United Parcel Service and striking Teamsters digging in for a potentially long standoff, small businesses with small profit margins say their very survival is on the line. UPS competitors say they are besieged by UPS customers eager to sign up. Some post offices are hiring temporary workers. FedEx says its employees are working long hours to try to keep up."
