SLEEVE NOTES
Welcome to the first Scaley Andrew tape of 1992. Ever since I bought a four track recorder last fall I've been busy as a little bee with home recordings. I guess these tapes might become a bit more frequent as a result. A lot of these are demos I did for my band Eggs. I included them because in their new forms they are different, and thought a little historical context might be interesting to my 25 or so fans. A bunch are just stupid covers, and a few are Scaley Andrew exclusives. I should make a special note that while Mark Nelson isn't on this tape, he is an integral member of this group who lives too far away from me. I'm not sure of all the artists I sampled or completely ripped off for this project. I hope no one's offended. Remember, it's just for fun. On the first song, Rudolph Grey, l'orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, Astrud Gilberto and Nation of Ulysses are all pretty heavily bitten. The next song is a Bevis Frond cover. I wish I was a good enough guitar player to do it justice. I can't remember whose version of Moulin Rouge I used for Memoirs. Tie Me Kangaroo Down was originally recorded by Rolf Harris. Some famous band from around here was sampled heavily for Steady Now. Another band from the area wrote the next song, but I'd feel stupid coming right out and saying who it is. I sorry that I feel that way. Thanks to my mom's relaxation tape for Endless Pot of Creme, and also my step father for the use of his cordless drill. Cara Mia is a Jay and the Americans song, thank you very much.
