Six different editions of the album were made:
First edition (manufactured August 18, 1994):
CD only with no booklet, tray card, or JEWEL CASE. This edition was not released on CD. The band had decided they were unhappy with the final result and returned to the studio for some re-recording and re-mixing. This delay left the band with no album on the Teen-Beat Circus tour (Teen-Beat 153) in the fall of 1994. The vinyl LP of this edition was pressed and released along with the second edition of the CD (I think).
Second edition (released November 28, 1994):
The first edition to see public release, this was the first edition that the public heard. "Just My Size", "Leather Idol", and "Crayola" were re-recorded by Geoff Turner at Inner Ear Studios. "Candy Song", "Dime a Dozen", "Lovesick", "Mt. Pleasant", "Nancy Drew", and "Hollywood Handwsome" were re-mixed. The CD booklets had already been printed for the first edition, reflecting the original edition recording, so the additional sessions are uncredited, but an audio credit at the very end of the track "Crayola" was added.
Third edition (February 12, 1995):
The song titles are added to the back of the CD (tray card). Page seven in the booklet is completely changed and updated to show the re-recording and re-mixing credits for the audio master introduced into production for the second edition. The audio credits at the end of "Crayola" are now gone as well as the 45-seconds of singing crickets. Some of the other track times are a second or two different, so other songs might have had some excess silence trimmed.
Fourth edition (July 25, 1995):
The sound of crickets are back at the end of "Crayola". The JEWEL CASE tray is is now transparent pink - a change from the standard opaque black of the earlier editions. The pink on the CD label appears to be very slightly darker, perhaps due to a different manufacturer pressing the disks. The booklet paper is thinner "Manufactured and distributed by Matador" is added to the back cover (tray card). The LP has white labels instead of the previous pink, which is most likely a mistake.
A new edition of the vinyl is made. The jacket now has a full-colour back.
An audio cassette version is manufactured for the first time.
Fifth edition (1996):
A promotion-only edition packaged in a digipak with illustrations by drummer Jack Hornady. Audio master is completely revamped and identical to the sixth edition (see below).
Sixth edition (July 16, 1996):
The band signs to the Elektra label and re-issues the album with both the Elektra and Teen-Beat imprints. The booklet is expanded to 12 pages and features a new band photograph on the last page. The notebook specifications on the front cover are updated to reflect the CD booklet size. "Elektra" is added to the front cover. The Teen-Beat address is removed from the front cover. The booklet is printed on uncoated stock. The label design is different, but the shade of pink is the same. Elektra copyright information is added to the booklet and tray card.
This catalog number also encompasses the promotional CD single "Hollywood Handsome" produced in 1996. Two versions of the song appear. One from the 6th edition, and the other is the same version, but with the word "fuck" clipped so it is unrecognizable. The latter is known as the "clean version" and the former as the "album version".
The band photo on the last page of the CD booklet has the handwritten words "Foxy is as foxy does". The same slogan is on the press kit that Tuscadero and Teen-Beat created for the album.
Thanks to (2nd-4th editions):
Rob Christiansen,Thanks to (6th edition):
Marc Waterman,"Special apologies to anyone we forgot, or whose name we spelled wrong."
VIDEO
A music video for the track "Hollywood Handsome" was filmed in New York, New York, U.S.A. in 1996. It features Jimmie "J.J." Walker, known for his role on the television program "Good Times". The lyrics "goddamn" and "fuck" are clipped as to be unrecognizable. In the video, the band is performing on what is supposed to be the 1970's television program "The Gong Show." An actor reprises the role of Gong Show host Chuck Barris while Jimmie "J.J." Walker plays himself.
